Happy 2nd Birthday Xavier!

Who can I throw this to, Thaddeus isn't around?

Warning: If you are uneasy about seeing babies hooked up to machines, etc., you may not want to read this post. Today my little guy turns 2! I can't believe that it's been 2 years already since Xavier was born.  The days, weeks, months, and years are just passing us by like there is no tomorrow! If you've read Shawn Ann's World over the last 2-1/2 years you will know that these last 25 months have been touch and go at times and even very frightening.  You will remember that it all really started on April 12, 2011, when I was admitted to the hospital and feared that either something … [Read more...]

Xavier’s 1st Carousel Ride

Xavier on the Carousel

We recently took a trip to the Detroit Zoo and Xavier got to ride the Carousel for the first time, ever!  I'd say he did pretty darn good, not only did he hold on all on his own, but he only took his hands off the pole once and for just a short second. As you can tell, he really did enjoy his ride, I think he would have been happy as could be to just sit there all day riding it. … [Read more...]

Playing in the Yard

Marching through the backyard

It's amazing how much things can change within a year.  This time last year there was no way that Xavier would be outside playing in the yard the way he does now. He was barely walking, in fact he was really just walking around furniture and anything he could hold on to. Now, he climbs up on this picnic table without a problem! Today, however, he is all over the place. It's a good thing we have a decently fenced in yard!  We still have to keep a good eye on him because there are spots in our fence that need to be fixed and our gate opens pretty easily and he could escape without us … [Read more...]

Recipe: Broccoli & Beans Pasta

Broccoli & Bean Pasta

Up until recently, I was very strict on not trying new foods.  I like what I like and nothing more, that's my motto!  However, since I joined in on this Blogger Food Challenge group I have kind of being forced to try some new things.  Mostly because we can't duplicate recipes and well, by the time I joined most of the normal and easy things were already taken.  So, for this Meatless May challenge I am finding many new recipes to try, like this one today that I found via Pinterest.  I have changed it a little due to food allergies and what not.  The original recipe … [Read more...]

Oatmeal Apple Pie & Ozeri Elite Chef Ceramic Knife Set Review

Oatmeal Apple Pie Serving

Not too long ago I mentioned how important it is to have the proper kitchen tools when making recipes, one of the most important tools I know of is a knife, and I don't mean just any type of knife. You need a really good chef's knife and it needs to be sharp.  Up until recently I hadn't really had a good chef's knife for myself. We have many knives in our house for cooking, cutting, and spreading.  But for whatever reason the good chef's knives always seem to be way too big for my little hands. This could be because most companies that make knives for chefs are making them for … [Read more...]

Recipe: Fruit Filled Pancakes

Fruit Filled Pancakes

So, I'm working on this meatless meals challenge for May and you just have no idea how hard it is to make a meatless meal in my house.  We are meat eaters and meat is usually always a part of our daily meals.  I was searching and searching all over the internet for meals that had no meat and that were not made using that fake veggie stuff.  I was having really no luck. There are tons and tons of recipes out there for side dishes, but not really anything for main meals or full meals.  Then I came across this recipe for a Pancake Cake and let me just say WOW this is a very … [Read more...]

Broccoli Macaroni & Cheese with Core Bamboo Cutting Board Review

Broccoli Macaroni & Cheese up close

Who doesn't love a good Macaroni & Cheese?  No one should be putting their hands up, that is unless you are allergic to dairy or noodles!  Who would have thought you'd need to use a cutting board for making Macaroni & Cheese?  You do if you are adding broccoli to it!  Oh and I got this cute cutting board from Core Bamboo to review for them. For the Blogger Food Challenge this month it is Meatless May, where we are supposed to come up with meatless meals or at least some good meatless side dishes.  One of the first things that came to my mind, that wasn't … [Read more...]
