We took a nice long trip to Kentucky in 2008, we stopped at the Newport Aquarium, then headed to hubby’s family where Thaddeus stayed the weekend, and we went camping/hiking at Natural Bridge. It was a great weekend, and we had lots of fun. Here’re the pictures from the Newport Aquarium.
Newport Aquarium
We’ve driving past the Newport Aquarium many times during our adventures from Michigan to Kentucky to visit my in-laws. However, this was the only time we added this stop to our trip, and it was well worth it.
Delighting families since 1999, Newport Aquarium welcomes your family to discover the wonder of an underwater world. SEA thousands of the world’s most exotic aquatic creatures as you waddle with playful penguins, meet rare white alligators, be surrounded by sharks and surprised by smiling stingrays. Encounter thrilling adventures like the first-in-the-world Shark Bridge, where you can cross inches above a tank full of sharks on a rope bridge. Plus, experience the NEW exhibit Shipwreck: Realm of the Eels and explore a long ago-sunken ship and the creatures that call this accidental reef home. All while spending quality time together and creating lasting memories.
Thaddeus got to climb up on a few statues in the kids play area and we even got to take our picture inside a sharks mouth!
I loved that you got to interact with some of the animals at the Newport Aquarium. Mostly with the birds, but there were a few times that you got to touch some of the marine animals. Thaddeus was pretty excited about it all!
Have you ever seen a child so happy about getting to feed a bird? I mean, just look at that pure happiness! The birds didn’t mind one bit that we were in there, they were happy to get that nectar to drink.
It was very hard to take pictures of the animals within the aquariums as it was very dark throughout the building with lighting inside the aquariums. But it was an awesome experience seeing many of the marine life. Several of the aquariums you could walk under and over, which made it pretty darn neat.
The trip to Kentucky really wore Thaddeus out!
[…] next major stop would be in Kentucky. Our first stop there would be to the New Port Aquarium, because we had a great time the last time we were there and Thaddeus is older and would be able to […]
