By now your children’s schools have closed because of the Corona Virus. We aren’t sure exactly how long the closures are going to last or if the kids will be going back to school this school year. So, what do you do to keep your kids learning during this time? We all know that it’s hard for the kids to get back into learning after the summer break and this closing period is just about the same.

Schools & zoos are closed because of the corona virus, that doesn't mean your kids must stop learning. Check out this list of activities.

Kids Learning Activities During Corona Virus School Closures

I’ve been watching my Facebook feed as well as the local news stations trying to figure out what the kids can do during the school closings. Here’s a list of virtual tours, storytimes, and even some animal learning. I’ll be adding more activities and links to things your kids can watch as I find them.

Storytime

We don’t always have time to read to our children, even though we really should find the time. However, there are also times when our kids are just tired of hearing us read to them. So, let’s allow the celebrities read to them for us!

Clark The Shark is written by Bruce Hale, illustrated by Guy Francis and read by Chris Pine.

Animal Learning

Even though your local zoo is probably closed because of the coronavirus, that doesn’t mean you can’t learn about their animals.

Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden: Facebook page. Every day at 3:00 p.m. you can learn about an animal, so set a reminder!

Virtual Tours

Looking for some virtual tours of museums around the world? Here is a great link I found that offer virtual tours for families. Kids can spend hours upon hours viewing museums that they might not be able to see otherwise. You can see places like The Van Gogh Museum, The Met, The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Detroit Institute of Arts, Adler Planetarium, the Field Museum, and so much more!

Want to see 30+ virtual field trips? This is similar to the link above for the museums.

Learning Science & Math

Check out the Science Mom YouTube channel! She has a ton of videos for science and math, brought to you by Science Mom and Math Dad.

ABCmouse.com is offering free membership now. Use code: SCHOOL7771.  I have not tried this, so I’m not positive this works.

Reading

I just found out about this app that was created by the New York Public Library that allows you to enter in your library card number and check out ebooks for FREE!  The app is called SimplyE (iPhone). I have not tried the app myself, so you’ll have to let me know how it goes.  There is also an Android version.

20 days of learning with Scholastic. I have NOT verified this works so please let me know if it doesn’t so I can remove it.

Drawing / Art
