Most of the time when we go out as a family, we tend to stick together and enjoy the time as a family.  However, sometimes we just want to take some time to ourselves while we sit & relax as the kids play. This is something that can be done while visiting Onekahakaha Beach Park in Hilo.  This is exactly what w did while visiting Hilo on the Big Island of Hawai’i.

Onekahakaha Beach Park is a great place to take the kids to swim and have fun.  There are small wade pool areas where the younger kids can play, and you don’t have to worry about them going out into too deep of water.  There are also areas where the water is a bit deeper for the older kids but still away from the open ocean. While the kids are out in the water having fun, you can sit & relax all while keeping an eye on the kids to ensure they are safe.

The best part about this beach park is that there are a few little areas where there is sand for playing in, you can do a bit of snorkeling, and there are places for picnics and parties. Even better, even when the park is filled with people there is still plenty of space around so you don’t feel crowded while enjoying your day at the beach.

Every once in a while, you need just to sit & relax while the kids have some fun playing. Onekahakaha Beach Park is a great place for doing just that!
