We all have something that we do in our life that we love. For me, it is gardening. I’ve always loved working with plants; surprisingly I never made it my career. For me, it is the most relaxing thing for me and the biggest stress reducer. It doesn’t matter if I am cutting the grass, pulling weeds, or cutting flowers to display in the house. Guard ending is beneficial, and it can be for you too.

Gardening may not be for everyone. However, it could be. There are several benefits of having a garden. Here are 5 ways gardening can be beneficial.

Gardening Benefits

Gardening may not be for everyone. However, it could be. There are several benefits of having a garden of your own. Whether it is a flower garden, a garden of fresh fruits and vegetables, or fresh herbs growing all year. Gardening can be a great stress reducer, and it’s, even more, fun when you can include your family when gardening.

Stress Reducer

Gardening can be a great stress reducer if you love to garden. There are times when going out and pulling weeds or clipping flowers to display in your home can be relaxing and allow your mind to take a break from the reality of life. There is just something satisfying about taking flower clippings from your own yard and displaying them in your home.

Did you have a bad day at work? Let me guess; the kids are running around being as noisy as possible? Take a break from reality and go out to your garden and pull some weeds or plant some new vegetation. It only takes 15-20 minutes of your time to reduce your stress level while out in the garden.

Fresh Herbs all Year

No matter where you live, you can have a herb garden, which means fresh herbs all year around. It doesn’t matter if you reside in an apartment, you’re renting a home, live in a condo, or if you have twenty acres of land. You can have a herb garden that keeps producing fresh herbs all year long. No more need to run to the grocery store every time you run out of a herb, just pluck some from your herb garden.

Fresh herbs are easy to grow, and they do not need a lot of space. You can plant a few seeds in a mason jar and keep it on your countertop, or you can use a 10” pot. Depending on the size of the pot you are growing the herbs in, you can even grow various herbs within one pot. Grow the herbs you like and use the most or grow lavender and use it at the end of the day as a stress reducer.

Fresh Fruits & Vegetables

Although you may not always have fresh fruits and vegetables growing in your yard, you can save yourself some money throughout the growing season by growing your fresh fruits and vegetables. The best part about this is that you know what chemicals if any are used, are on your food rather than having to guess. Plus, you know they are fresh because you’ve picked them right out of your garden.

Obviously, depending on where you live you could have fresh fruits and vegetables growing all year around. However, if you reside in an area that has a harsh winter you can continue to grow individual plants indoors, especially with an indoor garden where you can grow lettuce and tomatoes all year.

Fresh Flower

During the spring, summer, and fall months you can have fresh bouquets of flowers displayed throughout your home. You can even give them as gifts to your friends and family. Who doesn’t love to receive a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers every once in a while? You can have a rose garden, a wildflower garden, or you can go as elaborate as you want and have many different flowers growing, each that bloom at various times of the year.

Teaching Children

One of the best things about gardening, at least to me, is that it is a great thing to teach our children. Gardening with kids will teach them how to grow their foods, but they also learn where the fruits, vegetables, and herbs come from. Depending on the type of garden you have, they can even watch and observe the garden as it grows. It has also been said that children who garden are more likely to eat the fruits and vegetables that they grow.

No matter your choice of gardening, it can be beneficial to yourself and even the rest of your family. Just think of how much healthier they would eat if they were eating fresh fruits and vegetables all the time from your home garden?
