The Rangers Advance

That’s right. The New York Rangers have advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs. They swept the Atlanta Trashers in the the 1st round. Here’s a breakdown of the games.

GM 1: Rangers 4, Thrashers 3
GM 2: Rangers 2, Thrashers 1
GM 3: Rangers 7, Thrashers 0
GM 4: Rangers 4, Thrashers 2

It’ll be a few more days before we can find out who they’ll be facing in the 2nd round. No clue who else is going to advance to the 2nd round. There are several match-ups that are 3-1 right now and a couple that are either 2-2 or 2-1. So those match-ups could go 7 games.

Ottawa is trying to advance tonight with a 3-1 advantage over Pittsburgh, we’ll have to watch to see if the young guns (Jordan Staal and Sidney Crosby) of Pittsburgh can get a win tonight and stay in the game.

Unique Baby Clothes

Vancouver has a great change to advance tonight with a 3-1 advantage over Dallas. This series has been very close, one goal games and two decided in overtime (game one lasted 4 overtimes). It’ll be interesting to see if Mike Madano & Marty Turco can show their experience and stay in the series for a while longer against Sedin brothers.

Last but not least, there is Anaheim who’s also going for the advance tonight over Minnesota. Minnesota was lucky to stay in it during the last game with a win to keep Anaheim from sweeping them. Anaheim has the advantage with experienced players like Scott Niedermayer, Teemu Selanne, & Jean-Sebastien Giguere. It’ll be an interesting game tonight.

Finally, The Detroit and Calgary game! Calgary is trying to tie the series up tonight, while the wings are wanting the win to take it for a series win at home on Saturday. Calgary is playing a rough game, the only advantage they really have. They try to run the Wings down in hopes to keep them from scoring. Jerome Iginla, Alex Tanguay, and Miikka Kiprusoff have been the main players for Calgary, but only Kiprusoff has been doing his job to the fullest. Iginla seems to be in a slump during this series. The wings have the kids doing all the work for them. Pavel Datsyuk has gotten out of his scoring slump and Valtteri Flippula has scored several times keeping the wings ahead of the Flames. It’ll be interesting if the more experienced players start getting into the game. Lets hope for a win from the Wings to keep them ahead of the Flames and take it home for a win in the series.
