I was contacted by a representative from Scholastic about a new The Magic School Bus and the Climate Challenge by Joanna Cole & Bruce Degen.

About The Magic School Bus and the Climate Challenge

Ms. Frizzle’s students are putting on a play about global warming, and they need some cold, hard facts. The Friz knows just where to find them! A hope on the Magic School Bus takes the kids on a whirlwind tour. From the Arctic to the equator, they see telltale signs of climate change. But to get the really big picture, the class has to get really small – so they can see exactly what is in the air and why it is making the world warmer. What they find gives them a real cause for concern!

Luckily, the Friz has some hands-on advice. With their knack for making science accessible, Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen give this hot topic a refreshing, kid-friendly spin that will inspire all to do their part. Ms. Frizzle and the class are up for the climate challenge. Are you?

My Take on it

While my son, who is 4 years old, is too young to fully grasp the lesson in The Magic School Bus and the Climate Challenge, it still makes for a great story to read to him before bed, and plant a seed for his future ‘global’ consciousness.

Mrs Friz, or “The Friz” as she is called in the book, takes her class on a ride in the magic school bus to the arctic circle. The class brings along an old book of hers and they notice how the area has changed due to global warming. And this begins their learning adventure in the causes of global warming, and what everyone can do to help stop it.

Unique Baby Clothes

The story itself is a short and cute read. But the book itself is full of useful tid-bits outside of the story itself. Even though my son isn’t old enough for the true meaning yet, older children can really learn a lot from a book like this.

Disclosure: I would like to thank Scholastic for providing a copy of The Magic School Bus and the Climate Challenge for the purpose of this review. All opinions are that of my own.
