About Jane Doiron
Jane Doiron is a mother of two sons and an elementary school teacher with a true passion for cooking. I am continuously searching for and trying recipes for new foods and different cuisines and introducing them to my family. After enjoying a delicious meal at a restaurant, I will go home and do the research to re-create it. I feel so gratified when people enjoy my foods that a few years ago I hosted my own website of favorite recipes, just so that my family and friends could conveniently get them online.
My passion for cooking has evolved into the publication of my first cookbook, Make-Ahead Meals for Busy Moms. I found that despite my love of cooking, I was often tired after work and lacked the motivation to produce a great meal day after day. In search of a better way, I turned my family-favorite meals into make-ahead meals.
Through years of experimenting with my recipes in the kitchen, I learned what meals tasted just as great after being frozen and what meals were not acceptable to freeze. While some meals didn’t freeze well, they allowed for preparation the night before, ultimately saving time the following day. Unlike other make-ahead cookbooks, I didn’t stop at main dishes, I include make-ahead directions for appetizers, side dishes, breads, desserts and soups. I am hopeful that many busy moms will find my make-ahead recipes both beneficial and delicious, which will be the ultimate compliment to this cook!
Jane’s book is intended for us busy moms and dads who sometimes just can’t find time to fix a full meal after a busy day at work or doing daily activities with the kids. Her concept is make the meals ahead of time, freeze them, and then the night before your super busy day just thaw the pre-made meal in the refrigerator and then pop them in the oven or on the stove when you are short on time for dinner. I love how the book is laid out, broken down by categories and each recipe is printed out is a nice big font with detailed instructions. The meal categories are as follows:
- Appetizers
- Breakfast & Brunch
- Deserts
- Main Dishes
- Side Dishes
- Soups
Jane also includes a handy measurement equivalents table for volume and weight conversions.
The recipes are easy to follow and delicious!
