we live far away from family so it is very quiet here. Last year my husband and I started a tradition of building a fire and making paper snowflakes on christmas eve. We plan on continuing this every year.

We love to decorate our tree, in the past we’ve let Thaddeus put the star on the top a few of the years to make him feel special (since he couldn’t do many ornaments himself).

we do a couple fun things every year…one of our favorites is going to our towns little Christmas parade, another is taking a hayride where we sing Christmas carols & an all time favorite is sprinkling reindeer food outside on Christmas eve…even as the kids got older, they still love to do this :) plb8156@aol.com

Thaddeus has gotten into wanting to sprinkle reindeer food outside. He got some one year from one of the clerks at the Kroger we shop at and he thought it was the coolest thing!

We’ve always had something different with our family since it was divided, but I sure miss going to my grandparents house for Christmas. As a child we went every year and it was always so much fun!

We do a family Secret Santa-switching names every week between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We’ll do little random acts or leave a special treat everyday for that person. For each thing we do, we put a piece of yarn (straw) in a little manger. Finally, on Christmas Eve, Baby Jesus has a nice soft bed!

The only tradition we have is a lot of baking. I love to make persimmon cookies, cranberry-orange bread, pumpkin-nut bread. Then my DIL makes candies.

When the kids were little we were in the military stationed various locations around the world. We still like to have Crackers which we learned about while in England

Our tradition is to shake and guess presents before the person gets to unwrap them. We’ve been doing them as long as I can remember.

Last Christmas was the first one that our grandson was living with us. We watched a Christmas movie each week in December, complete with popcorn. We all had a great time and it put us in the mood for the holidays. We’ll be doing it again this year!

Every Christmas Eve we go to grandma house and exchange gifts. We have been doing this since I was a baby so 36 years now. I am blessed she is still alive to celebrate with us.

One of our Christmas traditions is having my mom over for Christmas Eve, all of us going to church and just spending quality time with her. This is a new tradition that started when my dad died 2 years ago.

Everyone has to wait at the top of the stairs together before anyone (but the “adults” making coffee) can come downstairs to see the tree and open presents. We did this when we were little and now we do it with my kids, only my parents go downstairs before the “hordes”, all of my generation and my children wait at the top of the stairs.
