Ready, Set, Baby! E-book Review

Ready, Set, Baby!

As with any female out there, when the time comes for a baby to arrive we are always full of questions. How often should my baby eat? How many diapers will he/she need a day? How many naps should they take? When should they be sleeping through the night? When should I start baby food? When should they start walking? The list of questions can go on and on! It's a natural thing and we all do it.  If it wasn't natural than there would be tons of books out there for new parents and parents to be. One of the newest places to get all kinds of wonderful information as a first time parent, or … [Read more...]

Installing Hylafax and Avantfax on Ubuntu 10.04

Avantfax

I was tasked with setting up a Hylafax server using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and running Avantfax. I'll not get into the specific reasoning behind all of that, it's just how things had to be done. Seeing as how I have never set up Avantfax before... nor Hylafax... I ran into a few issues and thought I'd log a few things here for later reference and just to have the information out there on the interwebs in case anyone else could find the information useful. So here goes.... I started off with a base install of Ubuntu Desktop 10.04.02 LTS because that is what I had on a CD here and was just too lazy … [Read more...]

Health & Fitness: DDP Yoga

DDP Yoga

Now that I've gotten back on the health & fitness band wagon, I've been exploring many options for exercising. I need to find something that is fun but that also works at helping me lose the weight I want to lose. I recently came across DDP Yoga, which when I first received the information I was like, "Umm, OK this guy looks crazy!" but I wanted to give the set a shot because the information about DDP was intriguing. Then I watched the video that is on the DDP Yoga main page and I was inspired! If Arthur can do this, so can I! I was going to hold off until the end of my post for … [Read more...]

Verifying your WordPress Blog on Pinterest

Verify your site with Meta Tag

Some time ago, Pinterest made it possible for your to verify that you are the owner of a website. They've always allowed you to have a website listed, but until recently there was no real proof that you were the owner of that site. I can only imagine why they decided to add this feature, but we'll leave their reasoning to them. Personally, I like the idea of it, but then again I couldn't imagine anyone else would want to claim Shawn Ann's World as their own. So, how do you verify your website on Pinterest? It really is an easy process and only takes a minute or two to do. But it is … [Read more...]

Bed Wetting Problem Solved!

Thaddeus wearing his bedwetting alarm

Potty training Thaddeus was a bit of a feat for us and due to bed wetting it's been with us for years! It wasn't that he wasn't ready to learn or that he didn't understand going to the bathroom. It was that he didn't want to stop what he was doing to go to the bathroom.  He'd rather continue playing and sit in a wet diaper, or wet clothes than stop playing and use the bathroom.  This was mostly a problem at home, outside playing, or at other someone elses house. If we were at a store he'd tell us he had to go to the bathroom and go, but if we were anywhere else doing something he was … [Read more...]

Barney® Loves You is Now Available

Barney Loves You 3-DVD Set

Xavier is really getting the point where he is interacting with TV shows and cartoons, which is great! It's taken a while for him to start interacting, but he's doing great with it now. One of his favorite things with watching TV is when music and singing starts happening, he starts dancing! As you can imagine, this can be very entertaining to watch. Although he doesn't always sit and watch the TV the entire time it is on, if he is in another room and singing/music starts to play he comes running around the corner and starts his dancing. One of his new favorite shows just happens to be … [Read more...]

MailPix: Product of the Month ~ iPad Case

MailPix iPad Case Front

When the new iPad was getting ready to come out I had to get it. Not because it was the new iPad, but because I wanted to get one that had more storage space. When I got my first iPad I went with the 16GB and I was running out of space for my pictures, music, and everything else. So I needed to upgrade anyway and decided to go with the 64GB. Then I ran into the problem of needing a new iPad case, because the old case wasn't going to work with my new iPad.  I chose an OtterBox case because we have kids and I wanted it protected, but it makes the iPad so much more heavy and not as … [Read more...]

Why did I switch my Smartphone?

Samsung Galaxy S III Cases

Not to long ago I wrote a post about smartphones and their accessories and how some are easier to find than others, especially when it came to iPhones. You see, last October I decided to do a smartphone upgrade but because of all the problems with the iPhone 5 I decided to go with a Samsung Galaxy S III and to sell my iPhone. At the time it was an easy decision. I didn’t want to upgrade to a phone that was having a lot of problems and I didn’t want to wait 6-months or longer for a new iPhone to come out. Was it the best choice? Now that I’ve had my Samsung Galaxy S III for about … [Read more...]

Social Media

Media

Did you know that there are rules and policies you must follow when posting social media buttons on your site? It wasn't until just this week that I realized that you are not allowed to use many of the social media icons many of us bloggers have been using!  Each brand is different with their policies and what you can and cannot do with their logo and what you use for an image to represent said brand. Twitter Twitter has a very specific logo you are allowed to use.  It is the Twitter bird.  The bird must be white or blue! Acceptable Twitter Buttons can look like this (or be reverse in … [Read more...]

Smartphones and Accessories

Samsung Galaxy SIII Cases

What kind of cell phone do you have? Is it a smart phone or just a regular cell phone?  I’ve been using a smart phone for about four years now; started with an iPhone 3GS and then upgraded to the iPhone 4.  I was planning on getting the new iPhone 5, but due to all the problems when it was first released I didn’t feel like waiting for the next release and ended up switching to a Samsung Galaxy SIII. Although they are very similar they are very different at the same time. They work about the same and it was an easy transition, but there are features that are very different that take a … [Read more...]
