Check out this latest trailer highlighting the stellar reviews Sandlot Sluggers has been receiving:

I don’t know how many times I’ve said it on here, but I love my Wii. I love having “fun” games to play, and I love the lack of “Nintenditis”, even though I get tennis elbow from time to time. It’s a great way to pass the time and have some indoor fun with my little boy on rainy days.
I’ve been looking for a sports game to play with my boy that was a little more advanced that the Wii Sports that came with the system, but nowhere near as difficult as some of the games out there. He’s 4 years old and would have too much trouble with the more advanced games on the market, and I’m a little too old to stay entertained with just swinging the wiimote haphazardly (which is about the sum of what you do with most Wii Sports games.
Enter “Backyard Sports: Sandlot Sluggers” for the Wii console, one of the funnest baseball games I’ve played in a long time. Unlike the MLB simulator style games out there, it is not meant to be too “realistic”, where you can play as your favorite major league big hitter, or smell the stale peanuts and hotdogs while you are trying to figure out the right combination of button presses and wrist jerks to throw a low breaking ball to the inside. Instead it has great animations, hilarious commentaries, and characters just as diverse and different as the kids living in your own neighborhood. Instead of always playing in a digital replica of a major league park, you play in a neighborhood sandlot, a grass covered park, or even the culdesack where you park your car. And with all those kids in the neighborhood, don’t be upset when you have dents in your hood and fenders… you shouldn’t have parked on the street in the first place!
All in all it is a fun game, not too complicated, and not so simple that it gets boring. And when you tire of playing “America’s passtime”, there are plenty of mini-games in the mix to keep you interested and coming back for more. But as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. And while I’ve only written around 400 words in this review, I’ll give you a video so you can make up your own mind.
